Gutters in Callahan, Sized and Pitched to Drain
We measure, roll-form and hang continuous aluminum gutters that carry roof water away from your fascia, foundation and flower beds. Before a ladder goes up, we cover your plantings and walkways and tell you exactly where each downspout will land.
What a Gutter System Actually Does for Your Home
A roof sheds a surprising amount of water. Without gutters, it pours off the drip edge in a sheet, splashes sand onto your walls, cuts trenches in the beds and soaks the soil right against the slab. Gutters collect that water and move it to a few chosen points where it can drain away safely.
Most gutter trouble comes from three causes: the wrong size for the roof area, a pitch that lets water sit, or downspouts that dump next to the foundation. Pine needles and oak leaves make every one of those worse. We fix the cause, not just the dripping corner.
Gutter work is also a good time to look at the roof edge. If the drip edge, fascia or first course of shingles is failing, we will show you, and our roof repair page covers that work.
What Our Gutter Installs Include
One-piece runs made in your driveway
We run aluminum coil through a forming machine set up in your driveway and cut every gutter to the eave's full length. The only joints are at corners and end caps, which is exactly where sectional gutters usually start leaking.
A size that fits your roof
We choose 5-inch or 6-inch K-style by looking at how much roof feeds each run and how steep it is. A wide, steep roof section can overflow a 5-inch gutter in a summer downpour.
Concealed hangers and correct pitch
We screw hangers into the fascia roughly every 24 inches instead of using spikes that loosen over time. Every run drops about a quarter inch per 10 feet so water keeps moving and does not sit and draw mosquitoes.
Downspouts that send water away
Downspouts go where the water has somewhere to drain, with bigger 3x4 outlets where the flow needs them. Extensions or splash blocks move the water off the slab and away from your beds.
Fascia inspection and repair
Rotted, soft fascia often sits hidden behind old gutters. We test it once the old system is off and swap out bad sections before the new gutters go up.
When Your Gutters Are Telling You Something
Overflow during a hard rain
If water sheets over the lip in a downpour, the run is too small, packed with debris or tilted the wrong way. Each cause takes a different fix, so we find out which one before quoting.
Drips at seams and corners
Sealant in sectional gutters breaks down in sun and heat. Once a joint leaks, it stains the fascia and keeps the wood wet.
Sagging or pulled-away runs
A gutter that dips between hangers holds water, gets heavier and pulls harder on the fascia. Spike-and-ferrule hangers are a common culprit.
Washed-out beds or a trench under the eave
Erosion along the drip line tells you where water is landing. It usually points to a missing or misplaced downspout.
Peeling paint or dark streaks on the fascia
Constant moisture behind the gutter softens the wood. Caught early, it is a short repair; left alone, it can reach the roof decking.
How a Gutter Day Runs
- 1
Walk-around and measuring
We measure every eave, note the roof planes feeding each run, and mark proposed downspout spots with you. You get a written estimate that lists footage, outlets and any fascia work.
- 2
Protecting the yard first
Tarps go over beds and shrubs along the work area, and ladders get standoffs so they rest on the roof edge instead of the new gutter line. We tell you which doors and walkways to avoid for the day.
- 3
Removal and fascia repair
Old gutters come down and go straight to our trailer. We replace any rotted fascia board and confirm the drip edge laps into the gutter.
- 4
Forming, hanging and testing
We roll-form the runs at your driveway, hang them, seal the miters and end caps, then run a hose at the high end of each section to confirm it drains.
- 5
Cleanup and walk-through
We pull the tarps, sweep the beds and driveway with a magnet for screws and cut-offs, and walk the finished system with you.
What Goes Into a Gutter Price
Most of a gutter price comes from length and how complicated the roofline is, along with anything we find behind the old gutters. Your estimate breaks out every piece so you can see what makes up the total. Financing is available if a single payment does not fit your budget.
- Footage and height
- More eave length takes more material. Runs on a second story need extra ladder work and time.
- Miters, corners and downspouts
- Each corner, inside or outside, is a joint we fit by hand, and each downspout brings an outlet, elbows and pipe. A roofline with lots of jogs costs more than a plain rectangle.
- Size and guards
- Six-inch gutters with 3x4 downspouts take more metal than 5-inch. Guards are an option with their own price.
- Fascia behind the old system
- Hangers have to screw into sound wood, so we replace soft or rotted fascia before anything goes up. Part of that rot can stay out of sight until the old gutters come off. We price the sections that look bad and send photos of anything more before we take on extra work.
Questions People Ask About Gutters
Something not covered here? (904) 921-3735
What makes one-piece gutters better than sectional ones?
Sectional gutters join about every 10 feet, and every joint relies on sealant that bakes, dries and cracks. A gutter formed in one piece for the full run has no joints in the middle, just at corners and end caps. With fewer joints you get fewer leaks and a drier fascia.
Should my gutters be 5-inch or 6-inch?
It depends on how much roof drains into each run and how steep that section is. Many houses do fine with 5-inch, but large or steep roof sections, and valleys that dump into one corner, often need 6-inch to handle a hard storm. We choose the size for each run when we measure for your estimate.
Is a new roof a good time for new gutters?
Frequently, yes, since the gutters must come down for the new drip edge regardless. If yours are in good shape, we can take them down and put them back up. Our roof replacement page covers how the two jobs work together.
Do gutter guards pay off?
If you have pines and oaks overhead, a good guard means fewer clogs and fewer trips up the ladder. Guards do not end maintenance, and some types have trouble with fine pine needles. We will give you a straight opinion on whether your trees call for them.
Will the crew walk through my flower beds?
Beds and shrubs get covered before we start, and we place ladders carefully around plants. If a downspout has to empty through a bed, we agree on the route with you beforehand.
Can you repair one bad section instead of the whole system?
Yes, if the rest of the system is sound. We can reseal joints, rehang a run that sags or add a downspout. When several issues show the system is too small or worn out, we will explain why replacing it may cost you less in the long run.
