Storm Damage Repair in Callahan, From First Photo to Final Sweep

After high wind or a falling limb, we walk your roof, photograph every creased shingle and lifted flashing, and explain what failed and why. Then we repair it with your landscaping covered and your driveway protected, and we tell your household what happens each day.

What a storm repair involves

Storm damage usually goes beyond a few shingles on the lawn. Wind slips under a tab, breaks its asphalt seal and creases it near the nails. The shingle can settle back down, but it has lost its grip, and the next gust lifts it higher. Hail bruises the fiberglass mat and knocks off granules, and flying debris can rip the underlayment below.

Our job is to find all of it, document it, and bring the roof back to watertight and up to code. Summer squalls and tropical systems around Callahan often leave damage you cannot see from the yard, so we inspect up close before suggesting anything. Limited damage gets a targeted fix that will hold. Damage across whole slopes gets a plain explanation and a look at roof replacement instead.

On storm damage claims we work with your insurance adjuster directly, so they see the same damage we found. We are not the adjuster, and the decision on the claim belongs to them.

What we do on a storm repair

A free inspection after the storm

We look over each slope, the ridge cap, valleys, pipe boots and flashing, and check the decking from the attic when it is reachable. You receive photos of the damage, each marked with where it sits on the roof.

Short-term cover

If rain could get in before repair day, we tarp or seal the opening so the decking and insulation stay dry until then.

New shingles and underlayment

Creased, torn or bruised shingles come off, damaged underlayment is replaced, and new shingles are nailed and sealed so they tie into the surrounding courses. We get as close to your profile and color as today's stock allows.

Decking and flashing fixes

We cut out soft or cracked plywood and put in new sheets. Bent step flashing, raised drip edge and split pipe boots get reset or replaced, since wind-driven rain finds those joints first.

Gutters bent by the storm

Wind and falling limbs often bend gutter runs or tear hangers out of the fascia. We rehang or replace the damaged sections, and our Gutters page goes into that work further.

Looking after your yard and family

Beds and shrubs are tarped, boards protect the driveway where debris falls, and a magnet picks up stray nails every evening. Each morning we let you know the day's work and about how long it will run.

Signs your roof took storm damage

  • Shingle pieces in the yard

Any shingle fragment on the ground came from somewhere. One missing tab exposes the nails and underlayment of the course below it.

  • Creased or lifted tabs

A straight horizontal line across a shingle means wind folded the tab back. The seal is broken even if the shingle has settled flat again.

  • Granules in gutters and downspouts

A pile of dark grit at the downspout after hail or heavy wind means the shingle surface has lost its protective layer. Bare asphalt ages quickly in the sun.

  • New ceiling stains or a damp attic

Water spots, damp insulation or a musty smell after a storm point to a breach above. The wet spot inside is often a few feet from where water entered.

  • Dented vents and flashing

Dings in metal roof vents, flashing or gutters show that hail hit hard enough to bruise shingles too.

  • A limb strike, even a glancing one

A branch that slid off can still crack decking or puncture underlayment. Look for sags from the ground and leave the ladder to us.

How a storm repair job runs

  1. 1

    Inspection and photos

We walk the roof, check the attic and photograph each damaged area. You see the photos before we talk about any repair.

  2. 2

    Written findings and estimate

You get line items for each repair, with a straight answer on repair versus replacement. Financing is available if you want to spread the cost.

  3. 3

    Meeting your adjuster

If you file a claim, we can meet the adjuster on the roof and point out each damaged area. Whether to file is your decision.

  4. 4

    Repair day

We cover beds and protect the driveway first, then tear out damaged material, replace decking and underlayment, and install and seal new shingles and flashing.

  5. 5

    Final walk and cleanup

We show you photos of the finished work, sweep the yard and driveway with a magnet, and haul away every bit of debris.

What sets the price of a storm repair

Storm repairs that look the same from the curb can cost very different amounts. Price follows how much was hit and what turns up beneath the shingles once we lift them. The estimate is free, and if you file a claim, our itemized lines show your adjuster exactly what we see.

How much of the roof was hit
A few shingles lifted along one edge usually takes a short day. If wind or hail marked most slopes, materials and labor go up, and a new roof may be a better choice than patching.
What the decking looks like
Cracked or wet plywood must be replaced before shingles go back on, and it only shows once the old roofing is removed. We photograph it and check with you before going ahead.
Matching what you have
Architectural shingles, discontinued colors and metal panels can be harder to match than everyday stock, which shows up in the price.
Permits and code rules
The Florida building code caps how much of a roof can be repaired before that section has to meet current standards. If your damage crosses that line, we pull the permit and explain what it adds.
Slope and reach
Steep pitches, second-story eaves and trees hanging over the roof mean more safety gear and slower going.

Common questions about storm repairs

Something not covered here? (904) 921-3735

Do I call you or my insurer first?

A lot of homeowners start with our inspection, because it is free and shows whether a claim makes sense. If it does, you have our photos and notes to report. Either way, look at your policy for any deadline to report damage.

Do you take care of the insurance claim?

We work with your adjuster directly: we record the damage, meet them on the roof and walk through the repair scope. Your insurer decides coverage and payment, and the adjuster represents them, not us. The claim stays in your hands the whole way.

Will new shingles match the old ones?

Usually they come close, but colors fade and products get discontinued, so a perfect match is not guaranteed. We bring samples to hold against your roof before ordering. If a visible slope cannot be matched exactly, we lay out your choices.

Is an older roof worth repairing after a storm?

It depends. When the shingles that were not damaged are brittle or shedding granules, a patch may not seal well, and the next storm will find those weak spots. We tell you which case applies and show you the evidence.

What will the repair be like for my household?

Everything happens outside, so staying home is fine. You will hear hammering and some sound in the attic while we work up top. We cover plants, protect the driveway and tell you each day's plan ahead of time.
